Video to MP3
Pull the soundtrack out of a webinar recording, an interview or a product video to use as a podcast clip, a transcript source or background audio. Choose MP3 or M4A, optionally trim to the section you need, and download — the file is processed on your device.
Choosing a format
MP3 plays on every device and in every editor, podcast host and transcription service.
M4A uses AAC, which is smaller than MP3 at the same quality and is native on Apple devices.
Voice quality suits speech-only recordings such as webinars and calls, at a fraction of the size. Use High for music.
Questions
How do I convert MP4 to MP3?
Add the MP4, keep MP3 selected, and choose Extract audio. Download the MP3 when it finishes. To keep only part of the audio, turn on Use only part of the file and set the start and end.
Is the video uploaded?
No. The audio is decoded and encoded in your browser. The MP3 encoder runs locally as WebAssembly.
Does it work with long recordings?
Yes. An hour-long webinar extracts in about a minute on a typical laptop, limited only by device memory.
Can I extract audio from a YouTube video?
This tool works on files on your device. Downloading video from YouTube is against YouTube's terms unless the video offers a download option.
Which files are supported?
MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV video, and audio files such as M4A and WAV, as long as the browser can decode the audio inside.
