Merge PDF

Contracts, decks and invoices are exactly the documents that should not be uploaded to an unknown server to be merged. This tool combines PDFs on your device: add the files, drag them into order, and download one PDF. Pages are copied unchanged, so text stays selectable and nothing is re-compressed.

What is kept

Every page is copied as it is: text, vector graphics, images, fonts and page sizes are unchanged, and a merged file is about the size of its inputs combined.

Document-level features do not carry over into the merged file: bookmarks, form fields that span documents, and digital signatures. A signed PDF loses its signature when combined with others — merge first, then sign.

Questions

Are my PDFs uploaded?

No. The files are read and merged in your browser, and the merged PDF is created on your device. Nothing is sent to a server.

Can I merge images with PDFs?

Yes. JPG and PNG images are added as A4 pages, in the orientation that matches the image, at the position they hold in the list.

How do I change the order of the files?

Drag a row to a new position, or use the arrow buttons on each row. Sort by name orders the files alphabetically, with numbers in natural order — file 2 before file 10.

Why can a PDF not be added?

Password-protected PDFs cannot be read until the password is removed. Open the file in a PDF reader, save a copy without the password, and add that copy.

Is there a file size limit?

No limit is set by a server, because there is no upload. Very large documents are limited by your device's memory; a typical laptop merges several hundred megabytes without difficulty.
